Holding big feelings for ourselves as parents
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Sep 19, 2024 | Birth, Early Parenting, Parenting, Personal Development
How do you do feelings? Especially big ones? Do you fly off the handle, or shut
down?
Do you ring a friend and blurt it all out or write about it? Do you pretend it isn’t
challenging, and when your partner asks how you are – you say, “fine!”
You probably do all these things, I know I do. So how can we hold big feelings for our
children when we can’t always do it for ourselves?

There has been much wisdom and traditions cultivated through cultures all over the world, about what new parents need during this time.
How Birth Sets Us Up For Parenting
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Jun 14, 2023 | Birth, Parenting, Personal Development
Does a pregnant woman wake up in the morning, and say to her partner,“Darling, get me a cup of tea - today I am growing an eyeball!” No, she doesn’t – well maybe she asks for a cup of tea 😊 She doesn’t need to set to work to make a baby, her body just does it. Think...
What Changes Birth?
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Nov 9, 2022 | Birth
We can’t control birth, but we can influence it. Many people believe birth happens to us. That we are helpless and one of the biggest fears pregnant women face when pregnant is that they will feel out of control during the birth process. They get told the only thing...
The Emotions of Pregnancy & Parenting
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Mar 30, 2021 | Birth, Pregnancy
One of the couples I worked with had a very difficult first birth. As a result, they researched other ways to welcome their second baby into the world. This time, they changed their model of care to a more woman-centered model. They completed my course and the mum did...
Breathing Better Is Not That Hard
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Nov 13, 2020 | Birth, Personal Development, Pregnancy
I am blessed to see my families again after they have had their babies, and I do get some beautiful compliments about how my course changed their labour. But during a birth debrief with a couple, I received one of the most wonderful and confusing compliments I have...
Finding Your Voice in Labour
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Nov 10, 2020 | Birth, Pregnancy
I have a distinct memory of looking at my husband’s face during my birth with James, with desperate eyes, pleading with him to read my mind – to get a towel for the floor, a hot pack for my raging bum, a drink of water, call the midwife and not to tell her she has...
The Magic of Zoom and Teaching Online
by Tracey Anderson Askew | May 20, 2020 | Birth, Pregnancy
I have to be honest, when the world started to change so dramatically in March and almost overnight I went from teaching 20 people in the one room, to 20 people online on Zoom, I had to wonder “Will my program still work its magic?” I’m a results person. I will always...
Keeping Relaxed and Excited About Birth
by Tracey Anderson Askew | May 14, 2020 | Birth, Pregnancy
I will admit, I’m a total nerd when it comes to the science of the mind. I have a real affinity with Joe Dispenza’s work, as he integrates science with the very real task of learning to ‘change your mind’ on a subconscious level, which leads to a change of feeling, a...
Being Transformed by Birth
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Apr 6, 2020 | Birth, Pregnancy
Since moving on from Calmbirth, I have called my new birth program ‘Transform Your Birth.’ I love the word 'transform' because this word encompasses what I know is happening for the families preparing to bring a baby into the world. I’ve described birth as the doorway...
Information Overload Surrounding Birth
by Tracey Anderson Askew | Oct 11, 2018 | Birth, Pregnancy
How much information is too much information? I’m a great believer in, ‘knowledge is power.’ All through history there are examples of the ‘elite,’ holding back knowledge from the masses as a form of power. Well those days are over – well and truly. Knowledge is...
