Transformation That Truly Moves The Needle

I was working with a coach the other day and she helped me to see something more clearly about myself and this work.
She told me I was a Transformer. I immediately thought of the movie Transformers, where these metallic creatures can change into different creatures.

She described transformation like a system that has cogs and levers that when tweaked can alter they trajectory of the creation of our lives. It was an interesting thought and help me to see the fascination that I have in helping women birth and families to parent. I have always asked myself what moves the needle,
what changes things?

What can I do that can support families to unlock their potential when parenting these precious children.

These reflections I thought I would share with you to understand some of the levers that change our experience of living.

The role of the past – in my therapy work I have been fascinated to see just how influential the past can be to this moment and our future. When we identify the past experiences that have created powerful imprints and recognise that they are outdated, we can start the journey of healing and unlocking potential.

Perception – how we learn to see the world will influence how we respond to the world. We all wear different glasses that act like filters changing the way we see things, which then creates our response. Change the glasses, change the response, change the reality.

We are storytellers – our minds are wired to create meaning and stories around everything we perceive and experience.

The Zen masters encourage their students to adopt beginner’s mind. A mind that is open to many possibilities, and refrains from creating perception, meaning and stories, is a powerful mind. When we do this, we move away from the default settings within our brain – that are wired for protection. This openness invites new realities and free’s you from judgement of others and yourself.

Art of noticing – is a powerful tool that helps us to regulate our nervous system and bring us into the present moment, where there is less room for fears and defences to take control of a situation. This can support beginners mind.

Getting to know your mind – mapping the inner landscape of your mind is a worthy pursuit. Over a lifetime we develop many parts that try to manage our life and protect us. Some we love and some we judge. Those parts we judge, or exile get stronger until you start to map them and understand their purpose and what they are trying to protect you from. When you do this, you are opening the door to healing, greater integration and maturation.

These are things I have noticed that are important to us as humans when unlocking that blueprint of potential.

It is important over a lifetime – that we grow, mature, take responsibility for ourselves and create the life that is our true heart’s desire.

And this my darlings, is why I get out of bed every morning, to watch this journey in myself and you. I also love the fact that I named this organisation Transform

Parenting, it seems to be more appropriate as the years go by.

Cheers change agents!
