This week I have an incredible story for you from a highly entertaining speaker. Xanthia shares the story of discovering her baby had a diaphragmatic hernia, and will need an operation in the first few days after delivery. She maintained confidence in her own mind that her baby would get through this, but also knew she was in for a big ride. She was fortunate to have continuity of care from a known midwife, and with incredible support from her midwife and husband, she was able to advocate for a low intervention birth which would ultimately support her baby’s entry into the world. She ended up having a very long labour and gives some great advice on how she paced herself through the labour and managing the intensity. She then goes on to describe the journey afterwards in a way that reminds us all, we have so much more inside of us than we realise, and experiences like this invite us to discover our resilience, and the resilience of these babies. I have no doubt you will be very inspired by this story. Settle in for a great show.
