From Chaos To Connected Parenting
Less yelling. Fewer power struggles.
Stronger boundaries.
More connection.
Saturday 31 October 2026
10:00am till 12:30pm
You probably already know how you want to respond to your child.
But knowing what to do, and being able to do it while your child is screaming, refusing, hitting, whining or melting down - those are two very different things.
About The Workshop:
From Chaos To Connected Parenting
This is a 2.5-hour parenting workshop that will help you understand your child’s behaviour, manage your own reactions and respond with greater calm, clarity and confidence.
The Details:
Where: Denman Village Community Centre
Individual ticket: $75
Couples ticket: $120 (save $30)
Led by Tracey Anderson Askew, who has spent more than 20 years supporting children, parents and families.
Parenting is beautiful.
It can also involve:
- Tantrums over the wrong-coloured cup
- Bedtime battles that seem to last forever
- Asking someone to put their shoes on seventeen times
- Sibling fights, whining and constant negotiation
- Trying to hold a boundary while your child completely loses it
- Promising yourself you won’t yell - and then yelling anyway
Sometimes the person having the biggest reaction isn’t our child.
It’s us.
This doesn’t make you a bad parent.
It means your child’s behaviour is meeting your own stress, nervous system, history and automatic reactions. And usually in the exact moment when your capacity is already running low.
You don’t need more judgement.
You need to understand what is happening and have a practical way to respond.

By the end of this workshop...
You’ll understand three things

What is happening for your child
Why young children tantrum, resist, whine, separate, struggle with transitions and experience enormous emotions.
What is happening inside you
Why particular behaviours trigger such strong reactions—and how your nervous system and default patterns influence what happens next.
What to do in the moment
How to respond with connection while still holding clear, loving boundaries.
What you’ll learn
During this workshop, Tracey will help you explore:
- Why children tantrum, resist and appear not to listen
- What difficult behaviour may actually be communicating
- Why some parenting moments trigger us so deeply
- How to interrupt yelling and automatic reactions
- How to calm yourself before trying to calm your child
- How to hold firm boundaries without becoming harsh
- How to support big emotions without becoming permissive
- What to do when your child is disappointed by your boundary
- How to recognise the beautiful child underneath the challenging behaviour
- How to calm yourself before trying to calm your child
- This isn’t about memorising the “perfect” thing to say.
This is about building enough awareness to give yourself another choice.
Connection does not mean letting children run the show
You can be warm and still say no.
You can understand why your child is upset without changing the boundary.
You can be connected without becoming permissive.
Sometimes calm, connected parenting sounds like:
“I know you’re upset. The answer is still no. I’m here.”
Your child is allowed to feel disappointed.
Your job isn’t to make every difficult feeling disappear.
Your job is to stay connected while holding the boundary.
This workshop is for you if…
- Your child’s tantrums or big emotions are wearing you out
- You repeat yourself until you eventually explode
- You’re getting caught in the same power struggles
- You yell more often than you would like
- You’re trying to parent gently but still want strong boundaries
- You know what you “should” do but struggle to access it in the moment
- You and your partner respond differently and want a shared approach
- You want to understand your child, and yourself, more deeply
- You simply want to enjoy parenting more
You do not need to be in crisis.
You do not need to have parenting figured out.
You only need to be willing to look at what is happening with curiosity instead of judgement.
